Clinical Support Team — Our Secret Weapon

One of the major reasons for the NYULMC Department of Neurosurgery’s reputation as a world leader is that we have a world-class clinical support team. As one surgeon put it, “we look good because they make us look good.” Our nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) play a central role in caring for our neurosurgery patients. Their responsibilities range from assisting specific faculty members or sub-specialty practices to supervising patients’ post-operative and critical care in our neurosurgical intensive care unit (ICU). Our NPs and PAs all have advanced, specialized training in neurosurgical medicine, and are among the most skilled and experienced clinicians in the world at caring for patients before, during and after complex neurosurgical procedures.
